The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
launched a new "Healthy Schools Environments" feature
highlighting funded research showing that healthier school
meals and snacks can help improve kids' diets and may help
reduce obesity, as well as tht increased physical activity
for students improves health and academic achievement. The
Foundation has issued a Call for Proposal for two
types of awards. Deadline: July 1, 2015.
Open Meadows Foundation
Invites Applications for
The Open Meadows Foundation is a grant-making organization
seeking to fund projects that promote gender, racial, and/or
Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects that are
designed and implemented by women and girls; reflect the
diversity of the community served by the project in both its
leadership and organization; promote building community
power; and have limited financial access or have encountered
obstacles in their search for funding. Small and
start-up organizations are strongly encouraged to apply.
The projects must be led by and benefit women and girls,
particularly those from vulnerable communities.
Deadline: August 15, 2015
National Alliance for
Grieving Children Announces Capacity Building Grants
promotes awareness of the needs of children and
teens grieving a death and provides education and
resources for anyone who wants to support them. In
response to the overwhelming number of applications
last year, coupled with feedback from smaller
start-up bereavement service sites, NAGC has
increased its funding from $750,000 to $1.2 million
in order to support organizational development and
capacity building in the field. To that end, NAGC,
in association with the New York Life Foundation,
will award 20 grants of $10,000 each to childhood
bereavement organizations that
have identified a need and seek funding to help them
operate more effectively. Applicants must articulate
goals that are achievable within 12 months. Deadline
is July 13, 2015.
