             According to the Animal Care Center of NYC, "New York pets are a special breed. Like us, they're a mix in the melting pot, both in their personalities and their backgrounds."  Mobile adoption events occur in every borough...so, if you're thinking about adopting a Bronx "boroughbred," see dates below.

As NYC's only open-admissions animal welfare organization, Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC)—a nonprofit—takes in more than 35,000 animals each year. The Community Dogs Program works within Bronx neighborhoods to identify dog owners in need and assist them, as much as possible, in keeping their dogs. In addition to free vaccination clinics, we offer a pet food bank, free dog training seminars, and spay/neuter referrals. For more information, call Alexandra Silver at 646.688.5208. Bronx Nonprofit Looking for Volunteers: Masa invites you to build a brighter future for the children of the South Bronx, By tutoring for two hours a week you can be a part of the change. Join them in transforming communities through education —one family, one child at a time. They are seeking dedicated volunteers to provide tutoring and homework help to elementary, middle-school and/or high-school students at our South Bronx community center. Free financial coaching for Veterans @ Bronx Vet Center. Held every month on the last Monday of the month. Next session: April 30th 2-5pm. Courtesy of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in collaboration with NYS DOL. Flyer with further details. Online here...

The Bronx Vet Center is proud to host a Photography Class for Combat Veterans and their Family Members @ Bronx Vet Center, 2471 Morris Ave, Suite 1A Bronx, NY 10468 with the instruction program and resources provided by the Josephine Herrick Project. The class will run for 8 weeks from May 2nd-June 20th on Wednesday evenings from 5-7pm. The workshop is free and cameras are provided, with the instruction coming from a professional photographer. Appropriate for those who either have experience or have no experience at photography. RSVPs are required due to limited slots in class. Flyer online here...

The Bronx Vet Center hosts free weekly Yoga group for active duty, veterans, and their family members: On Thursdays @ 12-1pm. All materials and instruction are provided free of charge and participants just need to show up in comfortable clothing. New members can join at any time. Connected Warriors, the non-profit who provides the volunteer instructors, will continue to run the group as long as there is interest. Additionally, after you attend three sessions, Connected Warriors will give participants a free t-shirt. Flyer is online here...

Free Legal Services at The Bronx Vet Center. Free weekly face to face legal services offered by the Veterans Advocacy Project for low-income veterans who have legal problems with housing, health care, or income. The clinic is held every Tuesday 3-5pm @ Bronx Vet Center, 2471 Morris Ave, Suite 1A Bronx, NY 10468. Appointments are taken or first come/first serve walk ins also available.
