"Promoting
the independence of people of all ages who are blind or visually
impaired through free services and training."
visions
is an agency with 86
years of history dedicated to
helping individuals with vision loss learn the skills they need to
continue to live full and independent lives.
visions
was the first NYC
social service agency to integrate blind
senior adults into the mainstream of neighborhood life. The Bronx
has 27 senior center programs where VISIONS provides support and
training to enable older blind persons to fully participate.
For older adults who have
lost their sight, rehabilitation services are provided directly in their
homes and/or at VISIONS' rehabilitation facilities.

at Selis Manor is a community
center on 23rd Street in Manhattan offering classes, training
support groups, volunteers and networking for blind New Yorkers.
Visions
VISIONS
Center on Blindness
(VCB)
a year round overnight facility, offers educational, social and
rehabilitation activities, for adults (18 years and older), families and
seniors who are blind or visually impaired. Guide rails border the
paths and tactile maps allow freedom of movement.
visions
educates community leaders,
volunteers, and staff at various centers and institutions how to
identify and refer people with vision loss for services and how to
integrate blind people into existing programs.
visions
seeks to serve the
underserved. Programs reach elders, ethnically diverse, limited English
speaking, and multi-disabled persons. Staff are bilingual and
