We hope you enjoy
traveling around the Bronx with Bill. He'll take you to
some out-of-the-way places, introduce you to some
interesting people and hopefully edify and entertain
you.
In addition to his
newspaper columns, Bill is also the co-author of Throggs
Neck 1983, a spiral-bound pictorial of that community
and Throggs Neck Memories, a 269-page history published
in 1994. Both books are now out of print. He has also
given numerous lectures and walking tours on all areas
of Bronx history. The latter has resulted in a new book
on Tremont Avenue to be released by the Bronx County
Historical Society at a later date.
He co-authored another book in 1998 entitled Throggs
Neck-Pelham Bay which was released by Arcadia Publishing
as part of their Images of America series. Bill's next
book was released in October of 1999 and is entitled
East Bronx. It, too, was published by Arcadia and it
contains over 200 photographs of that section of our
borough east of the Bronx River. It was followed by
South Bronx in 2002. Only the South Bronx is still in
print and it is priced at $19.99 and is available at
Barnes and Noble and other fine bookstores, either in
person or on-line.
Bill’s
latest book is The Bronx, in bits and pieces and is
available at your favorite bookstore or online from
Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble or other booksellers. It is
a collection of over 200 of his columns and will bring
you hours of pleasure as you reminisce on the glories of
another era. It was updated and expanded in July of 2007
and re-released by Rooftop Publishing. If you enjoy
reading Bill’s stories on this site, you will definitely
enjoy having this magnificent tome on your bookshelf. It
is being touted as one of the finest books on Bronx
history in print and each story is presented in the
inimitable Twomey style. Enjoy. |
